Fishing Derby

Today was the annual kids fishing derby at Lake Tye and the boys were very excited to catch some fish!  This is Jacob's 3rd or 4th year participating and he knows the routine.  He knows that we always grab McDonald's breakfast on our way down to the lake and won't let us forget that important detail!  This was Cameron's second year fishing, but the first time he was really into it.

After waiting in the line for a while, it was our turn to catch some fish.  It is so crowded that we don't let the kiddos cast or else every one's lines get crossed and tangled, so Jason and I took care of that.  We didn't do much better though!  Each of us managed to successfully cast the lines too far out to where they got caught in the nets and we had to cut the line and put new hooks/weights on it.  Super exciting!

It didn't take long for the boys to each get their two fish.  Cameron was hilarious!  He wanted to get in the water, pet the fish and was very upset when he thought we weren't going to let him hold it!  Here are a couple of pics of the boys and their fish!

The things that come out of kids mouths...

Our boys have been keeping us laughing these days!  Here are just a few of the things we have documented from the past day or so:

1.  After picking Jacob up from school today...

Jacob:  Mom, guess what? We got another new student in our class today.  His name is "Dentist".

Me: Really??  His name is Dentist??  That is an unusual name!  Are you sure his name wasn't Dennis?

Jacob:  Oh yeah, that was his name!

2.  Whenever we ask Cameron for kisses, we say "Cam, give me some sugar!" and he comes running up with smooches for us.  Now he will ask us for kisses and say "give me lots of sugars mommy!"  The other day after I got him up from nap I gave him a kiss on the cheek and he starts sobbing and says "give me back my sugars"!  Apparently he was still a little grumpy!

3.  Today Cameron stayed home with Jason while I went to work.  While Jason was making lunch he turned around and Cameron had his pants and underwear down around his ankles.  Jason asked him what he was doing and he responded: "I have a spider in my butt!!"  Not sure where that came from lol.

Happy Easter...a day late!

Happy Easter!  We kicked off the festivities on Saturday morning with the community Easter egg hunt at Lake Tye.  I didn't get any pictures at this one but both the boys had fun.  Cameron even got one of the special "prize" eggs and was able to go an choose a toy which was pretty exciting for him!

Saturday evening we finally got around to dyeing our eggs.  Jacob always enjoys being artistic when it comes to this activity...Cameron, not so much!  I think he was trying to see how much of a splash he could get when he dropped his egg in the cup of dye!

The finished eggs!

After we were done dyeing eggs, the boys choose which one they wanted to leave out for the Easter Bunny, along with a few carrots.  The next morning they were both VERY excited to see what the Bunny brought them!

Cameron was most excited about the chocolate in his basket!
After the boys went through their baskets, we got ourselves ready and headed out for Nana and Grandpa's house fore more Easter fun!

Looking for the "golden" egg....Grandpa had given Cameron the clues and he was telling the others where they were!
Cousins!

After brunch, egg hunt and a scavenger hunt for the adults, we then went to Grandma and Poopa's house for dinner and one more egg hunt.
We had a wonderful Easter spent with family and on top of that, the weather was beautiful!  I can't remember the last time that it wasn't pouring down rain for the egg hunts!

Whats been going on lately...

Long story short, a whole lot of nothing!  Typically January and February are our least busy months and we do a lot of hanging out at home.  Jason's work is really slow this time of the year too so we have lots of days with Daddy home, which the boys of course love!

Here are some pictures that show a little of what we have been up too!

Christmas 2012 in Photos

Well, I finally figured out how to add the photos again! Apparently Internet Explorer, Blogger and My computer didn't working together anymore.  Switched to Google Chrome and we now have pictures!  Anyways, here are a few snapshots from our Christmas.

A New Year

Wow, it's only been 6 MONTHS since my last post...I suck!  Well, it is a new year and with that I hope(once again!) to keep up, or at least be more regular, with my updates.  I want to me able to look back at the fun things we have done and memories we made and share it with the boys!

Along with a new year comes a desire to have a fresh start in various parts of our lives.  Instead of creating a New Years resolution that I would most likely fail at, I have decided to create some "goals" in different areas of my life.  I am including them below and am hoping to check back and see how I am doing.

Personal Goals:

1.  Wake up for the day at 6:00/6:30 every day.  This is going to be somewhat difficult for me considering I am a total night owl.  I stay up way too late reading, playing angry birds, etc. and then have a difficult time getting up.  I have to get up at a decent time every day in order to get Jacob to school or myself to work, depending on the day, and feel that making myself get up earlier than the kids that I will feel less rushed and more productive during the day.

2.  Workout at least 3 days a week.  This one shouldn't be too difficult, just need to make it a priority.  My hope is to make it to the actual gym at least 3 days a week and then do other stuff around the house on other days(Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD, walk around the neighborhood.

3.  Follow a cleaning schedule.  This one shouldn't be too bad either.  The house is never very bad, but I always forget to do the "deeper" cleaning items.  Hopefully following some type of cleaning schedule will help me remember and stay on top of the big things.

4.  Keep up a weekly Menu plan.  Have started this on occasion in the past, but want to be consistent in this area this year.

Mommy/Family Goals:

1.  Read with the boys each night.  I usually do this each night, but want to make it a priority.  Jacob is supposed to read aloud for 15 minutes each day and I know he still enjoys me reading to him as well, though we had been skipping it.  Cameron is really starting to enjoy listening to the stories and I want to continue reading with him so he continues to enjoy it as he grows older.

2.  Monthly dates with boys individually.  This one is mainly for Jacob at this point, though eventually we will want to do it with Cameron too.  A lot of times we find Jacobs needs getting pushed aside because Cameron is so needy.  We want Jacob to know that he is still important and know that he can always talk with us and think doing a date day/night with just him and either Jason or I or both of us will help him feel special.

3.  Implement a Family Night.  Not sure how often we are going to be doing this one, but hoping for at least 1 time a month.  My thought is to rotate who gets to decide what we are cooking for dinner that night and what activity we are going to do.

4.  Date nights with Jason.  We aren't very good about this now, but want to try and get to where we are maybe scheduling a date night every month or so.  I also want to plan a weekend get-a-way for our anniversary this year.

5.  Cameron: A)Potty Train.  We have already started this a little, though we have a ways to go.  B) Sleep Train...or whatever it is called.  Basically I want him to sleep in his bed all night, or at least past the usual 1:00am when he gets in bed with us.  C)  Ditch the BINKY.  This one I believe is going to be the most difficult for him.  He only has it when he naps or is bed at night, but he REALLY likes it!  I tried taking it away a couple of months ago and he kept trying to suck on his little lip...I felt bad and gave it back to him!  Anyways, hopefully we will get rid of it sometime this year!

6.  Jacob: A)Implement a chore chart/reward system.  We have tried a chore chart in the past and weren't very successful with it.  Not sure which system we are going to try as I am still looking around.  B)  Teach and implement character traits.  I have found some cool books on Amazon that I might pick up to help with this.

Financial Goals:

1.  Stick to a weekly food budget of $40-$50.  This should be easy to do, especially since I am going to be menu planning.  In the past, we would spend way more than necessary at the grocery store when we would just stop there every night to pick up we wanted for dinner that night.  I also want to keep track of the grocery spending by keeping receipts that way if I spend way less one week, I can add it to a week where I might need a little more in the budget because of entertaining, etc

2.  Pay off 3 debts over the course of the year.  Hoping to do this over the summer when Jason is working more.  Shooting for 3 but maybe will get to do more than that!

Anyways, those are the "goals" for the year!  Hopefully I will be successful in all of them!  I was hoping to add a couple of pictures, but in the past 6 months since I have last blogged, things have changed and I can't figure out how to do it!

A Day out with Thomas

On Sunday we bought tickets to "A Day out with Thomas" at the Snoqualmie Railroad.  We got there a couple of hours early to take advantage of some of the other activities they had.

When we first arrived, the kids were given a map of the place.  If they visited certain spots on the map, then they would get a prize at the end.  The first stop for us was the tattoo station!

The other places were the gift shop, the story telling tent and visiting Sir Topham Hat.  I don't have any pictures of their visit to Sir Topham hat besides the professional copy we bought, but Cameron absolutely loved seeing him!  He went right up to the guy(which looked really intimidating in my opinion!) and grabbed his hand.  He was a little concerned when the guy didn't hold his hand back...he had huge plastic hands!  Jacob was a little freaked out, but still went up with his little bro...Jacob's description: " He is soo creepy looking because his head is soo big!"

Finally it was our turn for the train ride!

The ride was about 1/2 hour long and went through Snoqualmie and up to the Falls.  It was a very old, shaky train!  I was pretty sure we were going to fall into the river with the amount of  side-to-side movement that was going on, be we did live to tell!
